From 1989 in Singapore when I watched a team of five Sony technicians unable to get their $20K projector running to 1997 when a US wireless company was unable to move bits 20 meters across a stage at a Venezuelan networking conferene, the subtext of tech. problems/screw-ups in public performances is "If those guys can't get it to work, why should I mess with it?"
