[NEWS AND VIEWS] « CHOGM news - | Home | Iranian censorship? » December 08, 2003AIDS in Nigeria: "Vivian Nyoko wears a low cut white top and tight denims as she perches on a dirty plastic chair outside a bar on a potholed rubbish-strewn dirt road in central Abuja, trying to lure clients..."Of course I am scared of Aids. But what am I to do?" Nyoko says, sipping from a beer bottle... "Of course I must make sure that men wear condoms when we have sex. Some men don't want to wear a condom, but then I fight them - I am not stupid, I am not going to kill myself." Read the whole thing. David Steven @ December 8, 2003 02:59 PM
The government is largely to blame for the situation. poverty abounds because the nation's wealth has not been evenly re-distributed.the result is what we are now witnessing in social upheavals, religious tension and HIV scourge. But the menace of HIV has been overblown owing to the large population.what we should be talking about is public enlightenment and other preventive measures.

Africa is really the continent touch by AIDS. Population have to be inform about this and all the protections existing. The more difficult is to persuade people to use condoms...

Condoms doesn't give a 100% safety from AIDS.U can't say because u are wearing a bullet proof,u should voluntarily walk into a battle field where guns and bombs are it's weapons.Abstinence is the answer.Remember,Some ondoms have holes!

My interest is that i want to know the populatione of people with aids and how it can be prevented apart from using condom. How do one get over with this shit.

I think that people who do have sex dont know that they have it, or the other person has it. someone should take control of the situation, get free tests, give out free condoms and eduacate adults and teenagers of the dangers and life threatening situations.

Do people really have to be prostitutes to survive in Nigeria given the govt. lack of awareness or self interest?
